Trash Day Green Day

We decided to have our lunch today outside on the back porch and enjoy the lovely day. Cayman had noticed there was some trash that had blown into our yard on the other side of our fence and our neighbor's yard. We live on 2.5 acres partially covered in trees. There are many places a piece of trash can become trapped on these windy Oklahoma days.

Cayman said to me " Mom, I remember reading in a book that trash can hurt the animals." " Can we go pick up the trash so the animals won't get hurt?" Although it wasn't the thing I wanted to do right away, I pushed aside my selfishness and told her it was a great idea. We grabbed a garbage bag and hiked over to begin our trash pick up. Once we got there we noticed there was actually a lot more trash than we thought and most was in the neighbor's yard. We ended up spending about 30 minutes cleaning up not just our yard, but mostly our neighbor's yard and had great fun doing it.  It was a great lesson for the kids on taking care of the environment as
it was for Brent and I too.
Cayman's good deed
 reminded me...

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!

What's New...OU???

For those of you who don't know, I actually have Sooner blood in me!
I was Sooner Born, Sooner Bred and when I die...well it will be sooner/cowboy dead!
I was born during an OU game and I was raised a sooner! I ended up at OSU because of my lifelong dream of being a veterinarian. My dad, although it  may have shortened his life expectancy, told me that I needed to go to OSU even in undergrad if I wanted to pursue that career.  I had the best time of my life at OSU those 8 years, but will always have a place in my life for OU too as crazy as it sounds!

Cohen thought it was so funny to see "Boomer"
dunk the basketball!

Cohen telling "BaPa"...O...U!!!

Grammy and BaPa took Cohen to his first OU basketball game for Valentine's Day. Even though we watch and talk about OSU atheltics, he is drawn to OU...could it be because he is politely educated about "Sooner-hood" every time he is around Grammy and BaPa? Even so, we will be fair and allow him to choose the teams he wants to root for. The important thing was he had fun quality time with his grandparents!

Deer Creek Prairie Vale Open House

We have had such a satisfying kindergarten experience that has been packed full of creativity, learning, fun(ny) experiences and growth...literally!  I remember how excited I always was for open house when I was a kid. I couldn't wait to show my parents the artwork and neat things I had been working on over the past few months! Now, we get to experience this with our kids!

Journal Time
The kids get to write and draw in their journal
everyday.
She writes..." I am Repunzle with long hair..."

She showed us her favorite center.
Any guesses?
 Yup, Arts and Crafts!
This area is called the Loft. There is a reading area up above
and an arts and crafts table underneath.

 The Smart Board.

I have been wanting to see how this works all year!
The kids get to practice counting, learn math, read, study
the calendar, draw and even play games.

Mrs. Gallagher asked each child if they could have one dream come true what would it be. When we saw Cayman's response, it made our hearts proud to know where her heart and thoughts were. Parenting is hard work and it is encouraging to see the rewards from your harvest.

The kids get hugs every day. They work hard in making every student feel very special.

Ready...Aim...Fire!

So the secret is out...
I like to shoot guns!

A secret I'm sure most of you are shocked by.  I had never shot a gun until I met Brent. He and his uncle taught me how to skeet shoot and I loved it...the rest is history.
I was asked to go out on a date by a handsome young daddy the other night which included
eating at "The Republic Gastropub", followed by a round of shells at the local indoor gun range.

What a great time and something fun we share together!
Thanks babe for a great
 evening out!

Growing So Big- 4 months

I love to smile and laugh. I'm especically ticklish on my ribs and armpits!

Blowing spit bubbles is very entertaining.

14.4 pounds, 24.5 in long

The moment my daddy starts talking, I can't help but smile as big as I can!

My conversations with my family are always full of valuable information. I like to hear myself babble!

I can roll over from my belly to back, but don't really like to be on my belly very much.

I can hold my toys now and they taste
 pretty good.

Clairen
You are growing and changing so fast before our eyes. I try to slow time down and savor each moment I have with you, but it still seems to pass by way too fast! You are so much fun and I appreciate your easy going spirit. Nothing makes you upset...unless you are VERY tired! You endure our busy lifestyle and the ways we are ALWAYS kissing your cheeks.  Thank you for bringing a sweet peace to our home! We love you always, sweet cheeks.

Love,
      mom
